To provide participants with a detailed understanding of the legal framework which governs the provision of community care services to children with disabilities, and an introduction to tackling common problems.


The course covers:

• The definition of a “child in need” and relevant provisions of
  the Children Act 1989
• Statutory guidance
• The duty to assess and care planning
• Service provision: target duties and the place of resources
  in decision-making
• Remedies: the complaints procedure and judicial review.
