Dirghayu Patel
 
Dirghayu Patel joined Public Law Solicitors at the beginning of 2010.  He qualified as a solicitor in January 2003 having trained with Deighton Guedalla in London.  He was awarded Higher Court advocacy rights in 2007 and is an experienced advocate in the County Court.

Dirghayu specialises in community care, public  law, human rights and housing law.  He previously worked at Fisher Meredith, Huntingdon Law Centre and TV Edwards LLP acquiring a particular expertise in community care and housing rights of those subject to immigration control.  He is particularly keen to develop the firm's work in challenging immigration detention.  Dirghayu's recent arrival at PLS has added to the firm's breadth of expertise.

Dirghayu is interested in the relevance of legal theory to the legal practitioner.  He is an active member of the Critical Lawyers group and recently spoke on homelessness at their 2009 conference.  He has contributed to the Solicitors International Human Rights Group by co-authoring a paper regarding a comparative analysis of the jurisprudence of the European and Inter-American systems of human rights protection.

He is a member of the Haldane Society of Socialist Lawyers.
